Senses working overtime #207

Yikes

Look at the way this guy is holding this precious record!! Wrong Wrong Wrong!!!!

The rest of it is pretty accurate though.

2 The Girls

I've just finished this novel which contains characters who replicate the Manson Family and events that happened in 1969 (that's when the novel is set as well).

Having read Helter Skelter years ago and been old enough to remember the court case, I have a grim fascination with the story.

Co-incidentally, while in a doctor's surgery waiting for my wife, I read an article in one of those dreadful women's magazines, about the remaining members who are still getting refused parole.

Eat Pray Love

Just started reading this book and...it's really good. Like millions before me, I like the too sensitive, high maintenance, erudite Elizabeth!

4 Disco era's 12 inch singles

Avengers: Endgame

Looking forward to this one, it's getting good re-release reviews, even though the 3 hour running time is daunting!

Overtime: Stephen Fry's Brexit videos

Senses working overtime #206

1 Meet Ziggy Stardust

Senses have been earthy ones this week with visits to my wife's new horse (a surprise conjured up by her close friend): an Appaloosa

2 Chchchchchchanges

We changed his name to be more fittingly glam, to a Bowie inspired Ziggy Stardust, Ziggy for short.

The resemblance is uncanny! Especially the eyes.

Just For The Record

Was reacquainted with a great record store in Napier this week. In the intervening 3 years they have moved locations to be more central. Still got a great selection of new and second hand records and HiFi gear.

Ricky Nelson

Been living out of suitcases and traveling between Palmerston North, New Plymouth and Waipukarau this week. The Purdmobile's 6 CD stacker and the ipod have been my only sources of music, with Ricky a major contributor: love his laid back warm blanket of a voice!

Jumanji - Welcome To The Jungle

We watched this with Jade and William. What's not to like with Jack Black and the smoldering Rock in peak form and Axl's finest moment (coming with the end credits).

Overtime: Lonesome Town (Yes - more Ricky)

Senses working overtime #205

1 Carly

A Carly-a-thon this week as she has dominated my senses since I started to read her book (see number 2).

2 boys in the trees

Previously, I've enjoyed Carly Simon's music and blog, and now I'm nearing the end of her autobiography. She's brutally honest with herself - a biography would have been much kinder on her.

3 The Simon sisters

Lucy, Carly and Joey
The book starts with her home life with her sisters and parents. This is a great picture , taken by their father - Richard, of the three sisters (a brother also came along after Carly).

Anticipation

5 Carly and James

Overtime: You're So Vain (the biggie)

According to Carly, not about anyone in particular but the speculation goes on. My bet would be on Warren Beatty.

Blackout poems

Great how to guide - excellent for teaching poetry as well as doing it for yourself!

Overtime: Mmmm - vinyl. The smell, the feel, the covers!
