Senses working overtime #420

1 Reading: Bob Mortimer's autobiography

2 Listening: Marlon Williams

3 Viewing on Netflix: Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

We needed to watch this Luc Besson extravaganza over three nights (length and our levels of tiredness). It's visually stunning but the plot is convoluted and bizarre verging on the ridiculous.

4 Reading: Mojo Magazine - Feb 2023

Although, slightly disappointed NZ no longer gets the covermount CD version.

5 Viewing: 25 iconic book covers

Overtime:

Just because improvements aren't visible doesn't mean they aren't happening.

You're not going to see the number change each time you step on the scale. You're not going to finish a chapter each time you sit down to write.

Early wins come easy. Lasting wins require a lifestyle.

Senses working overtime #419

1 Watching: Continuum

Great show - we're up to season 4 on demand.

2 Reading: Something So Strong (Chris Bourke)

It's okay but a very lateral, and then this happened, narrative style. Gives a glimpse behind their cheeky chappie image though.

3 Listening: Masters Of Reality - Sunrise On The Sufferbus

With Ginger Baker employing all of his genius on drums, this is a great album!

4 Reading: The messiest band breakups in history

5 Listening and watching: Hamilton County Bluegrass Band

Great clip from the archives.

Overtime: Happiness is the wrong question

Senses working overtime #417

1 Guardians of the Galaxy 3

2 Fifteen obscure words for everyday feelings and emotions

Croochie-Proochles - The superb Scots dialect word croochie-proochles means the feeling of discomfort or fidgetiness that comes from sitting in a cramped position (like, say, on an airplane).

3 How music affects your brain

4 Why it's so hard to land on the moon

China's dark side of the moon landing in 2019

5 The New York It Girl

Overtime:

"Broaden your interests. It's nice to have at least one surprising hobby or passion. People find it interesting. In many ways, the part of you that is least expected is more respected."
