1 Vanity Fair hits one out of the park, again
I never buy Vanity Fair but I'd sure as heckfire buy this copy! And there are more to come!
2 RIP Gregg Allman
I recently raved over Eat A Peach on my music blog and now this...Duane and Gregg, together again.
3 Sgt Pepper taught the band to play
Rolling Stone article on the reworked Sgt Pepper's for a generation who think - Dr Pepper? Huh? What do you mean? (Hi Jeff, if you read this!)
4 Rogue One, Hammerheads and physics
Great article explains the physics involved in ramming an Imperial Star Destroyer. I thought that too, but read it anyway - I learned a few things about physics and I thought THAT was impossible!
5 Paul Ryan
Friend Paul Ryan is walking the Camino again. You can read about him and his pilgrimage here. Good luck avoiding the blisters this time Paul.
Extra texture:
More on Sgt Peppers - the making of...Macca's Penny Lane (mmm - I know it's not on the actual album but Rolling Stone are taking a holistic view. Go see for yerself).
I've got one, two, three, four, five senses working overtime trying to take this all in

Senses working overtime #107
1 Wonder
I have a file in my brain labelled 'Wonder'. It's a miscellany of images, memories, books, poems, films, sounds. Wondrous-ness is very much a valued commodity in my brain. So I enjoyed reading this piece about how wonder works.
2 Stunning interactive mini-sites
My colleague, Greg Semmens, at Woodford House, would love this one from the creative BBC people.
3 Big Big Train
I'm a big big fan of Big Big Train - take a listen to their brand new song, and you will be too.
4 Marvel movies ranked
I'm a sucker for these kind of lists. Here are the 15 Marvel movies (so far), ranked from worst to best.
5 Star Wars
Interesting analysis of the Rogue One and Force Awakens screenplays. I know, but this guy delivers his messages well and loves Star Wars as a thing, so...hang in there.
Overtime
1 Hari Georgeson and Slowhand play Taxman. Sharp!
2 Macca on one of my fav Beatle solo albums - Ram.
3 Blade Runner 2049

1 That's no moon...
Rogue One continues the focus on the awesome ultra baddy that is the Death Star! Saw Rogue One this week in San Francisco's West Portal cinema. It's gooooood!
2 Rogue One reviews
Pretty balanced look, this one. And this one delves into the film's themes really well.
3 Medium stats
My Medium readership is examined! Good to know. Plus there's a cool link to the year's top stories on Medium.
4 Pocket
Clearly, it's time for the year's best of collections. Here's the really cool stuff from Pocket.
5 Chatbots explained
I think I get it, thanks to this article.
Overtime
Patti Smith's words and singing are a constant joy.
This deconstruction of Time magazine's cover image of Trump is fun.

2 OMG Vol 1
3 OMG Vol 2

reviews an interesting looking book about what makes a great leader.
5 John Glenn
God speed, John Glenn.
Overtime

It's been an exhausting week of changes in many ways - which I'll explain next week. I haven't had much time to keep abreast of my various feeds and things while the hectic stuff went on so these are things that I opened a while ago and then shelved for a bit. I came back to them during the week and finally enjoyed their content around some travel and decision making conundrums. Enjoy!!
1 Jack Bauer
We are huge 24 fans in our house - loved this article about Jack and the new show - Designated Survivor!
2 Leading men
Now, time for this interesting posit - are we post 'leading men' films? Go read it, it's gooood.
3 Why did white women vote for Trump?
If, like me, you've mystified, read this article from the wonderful people at The Guardian.
4 Want a sober assessment of Trump?
Noam Chomsky is your man. He's normally a clear headed voice on this stuff. No exception here.
5 Rogue One and more
Interesting developments at Lucasfilm explained.
Overtime
Want to overcome paralysing fear? Okay then!

1 Cars
I love this image from unsplash! It sums up the freedom of the road. There's the style factor certain cars have, it's cool colour, and the driver's relaxed but thoughtful pose. Just wanted to share it.
2 Nine%
As this article explains brilliantly, only 9% of Americans actually chose Trump and Clinton as the nominees of their parties.
3 Seth says...
Seth Godin's latest message was rilly cool:
The lottery winners (a secret of unhappiness)
You're going to have to fight for every single thing, forever and ever. It's really unlikely that they will pick you, anoint you or hand you the audience and support you seek.
No one will ever realize just how extraordinary you are, how generous, charismatic, or caring.
That pretty much doesn't happen, except for just a handful of people who win some sort of cosmic lottery, who get 'discovered' at a drug store and made a movie star, who are on the fast track to CEO of the Fortune 500, who get the big label deal and the gold records, merely for being in the right place at the right time.
Those people, it turns out, those few, end up unhappy. You might imagine that you'd like to be in their shoes, but they spend every day feeling both entitled and fraudulent.
You, on the other hand, get the privilege of the struggle, of working your ass off to make a difference.
4 Women editors
Great article about the imbalance between women and men in Hollywood power positions.
5 The science behind reading in a car
I don't get sick reading in a moving vehicle (car/bus/plane/train) but people in my family do. Here's why!
Overtime - Rogue One
The new trailer has some interesting teasers!

1 !Taylor's surprised face!
I'm a fan but she's STILL a celebrity who, at heart, works the room superbly, as this compilation of surprised faces makes clear.
2 Taylor as the soap opera villain
Great piece of writing this, from medium.com, on Miss Swift as the pantomine villain.
3 Jerry and John
How could you not be a fan of both these guys? Seinfeld and Oliver go at it in Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
4 Rogue One
Ooweee baby!!!
5 Be here now
I like many of the ideas in this post - about being in the moment - mindfulness.
Overtime:
Why?
Finally this week - just a lovely piece on finding your why.
Oliver's Army
Here's an example of Oliver's brilliance:

1 By Jupiter!
The Juno orbiter has sent back this photo. From Jupiter!!!! Not a computerised, this might be what Jupiter looks like, image. No. A photo! Of Jupiter!!!
Wow! You can read more about it here.
2 Anticipation
Carly Simon knew about this a long time ago but this is still fun to read about - the anticipation before an event...
3 Rogue One
I haven't included too much Star Wars stuff of late. Sorry. This update on Rogue One and teaser should ease the pain.
4 Cancel 2016
I'm a glass half full kind of guy (as you know) but even I'm getting beat down a little by the first half of 2016. Nice article by Kimberly Harrington sums up the feelings well.
5 The benefits of writing
I feel good writing daily. Here's why.
Overtime
Bill Murray's Ghostbuster III will he? won't he? is a fabulous read.

1 Superman
Loved this Superman comic that was featured on James Whatley's Five Things on a Friday. Great writing!
2 Luke's lightsaber
James was on fire last week - here's a second item that I have to re-share - a great attempt to trace Luke's lightsaber through the Star Wars saga.
3 Hmmm...
Two great pieces - Hilary Clinton on Trump's stance on women's health and photos from a Trump rally.
How weird can this circus get? Pretty darn weird!
4 Invisible
Some amazing photographs in this Vantage article - the depth and richness of colour and texture makes them come alive!
5 Trumpites
Who is supporting the Trumpster? This article gives a snapshot of who and what the people are. Revealing and stunning!
Overtime:
1 First Star Wars: Rogue One preview is out...ex-cit-ing!
2 I've been chewing over this article on Brain Pickings about the art of living for a while. It needs some concentration but is very rewarding. I recommend a read!

The goal of living [is] to grow optimally according to the conditions of human existence and thus to become fully what one potentially is; to let reason or experience guide us to the understanding of what norms are conducive to well-being, given the nature of man that reason enables us to understand.
