1 DB: comic hero
Love this!
2 Wicker's story
Great Vox piece that hooked me in via album covers and held my attention!
3 The Croz celebrated
Great series of links to lessons about music from an old warrior - David Crosby, hisself!
4 Scary guy
Boris as the joker
5 The real Brexit story
Great summary from New Statesman of how this nightmare started and why it's so mind numbingly stupid!
Overtime: Grammar sticklers take note
The order of adjectives before a noun explained (and yes, there is one - whether you are aware of it or not!)
I've got one, two, three, four, five senses working overtime trying to take this all in

Senses working overtime #206
1 Meet Ziggy Stardust
Senses have been earthy ones this week with visits to my wife's new horse (a surprise conjured up by her close friend): an Appaloosa
2 Chchchchchchanges
We changed his name to be more fittingly glam, to a Bowie inspired Ziggy Stardust, Ziggy for short.
The resemblance is uncanny! Especially the eyes.
3 Just For The Record
Was reacquainted with a great record store in Napier this week. In the intervening 3 years they have moved locations to be more central. Still got a great selection of new and second hand records and HiFi gear.
4 Ricky Nelson
Been living out of suitcases and traveling between Palmerston North, New Plymouth and Waipukarau this week. The Purdmobile's 6 CD stacker and the ipod have been my only sources of music, with Ricky a major contributor: love his laid back warm blanket of a voice!
5 Jumanji - Welcome To The Jungle
We watched this with Jade and William. What's not to like with Jack Black and the smoldering Rock in peak form and Axl's finest moment (coming with the end credits).
Overtime: Lonesome Town (Yes - more Ricky)

Senses working overtime #197
1 Oh January - boy did you suck!!
Good riddance. And I'm not the only one out there feeling like that. So here's to February! Thanks to Austin Kleon.
2 Groundhog Day
Hail to you Bill! Yes, it's rolled around again. celebrate with the movie.
3 Woody
I ordered a book online recently. It arrived. And along with it was a free copy of Woody Woodmansey's autobiography - Spider From Mars. It's not that great. I never would have read it but, hey - it's a free book!
Half way through and it's okay - the usual and averagely written at that. No fault of Woody - he's a drummer. It's mostly about Bowie obviously. More particularly - a band member's take on Bowie and that has limited appeal to me. But, hey, it's a free book! It's a harmless drudge.
4 On yer bike!
I've been very disappointed by the decision not to back the Mayor London's plans to pedestrianise Oxford Street. Oslo hasn't looked back and the fact it hasn't happened in London is a profoundly short sighted decision.
5 Rejection
James Whatley recommended this Ted Talk on dealing with rejection - good enough for me! Spend a great 15 minutes!
Overtime Airport!!
Another JW link (chur bro): the new airport in Beijing in a photo essay. Yes, that's a person on the roof in the middle of that picture. As Bill Murray would say: Raz-zil Daz-zil.

Senses working overtime #74
1 We're going to miss President Obama
More stunning photos from the White House photobugs here!
2 More great seventies vibes...
...in these photos.
3 Zuni
I'm a fan, and you will be too - it's just a matter of time! Check out Build - she aces it!
4 Walls
Great read on Donald Trump's wall and how it compares to others built throughout history. The stuff about Hadrian's Wall is fascinating.
5 The Wright Brothers fly!
Great article about what happens when you change the world but no one listens or cares!
Overtime
The return of 'song of the week' is David Bowie's radical reimagining of the Who's Pictures of Lily!

Senses working overtime #54
1 Prince
I've had enough of celebrity deaths in 2016. It's quite a list so far: Merle Haggard, Garry Shandling, Patti Duke, Frank Sinatra Jnr., Vanity (like her former producer Prince, she was only 57), Dan Hicks, Maurice White, Terry Wogan, Abe Vigoda (a.k.a. Fish), Jimmy Bain, Glen Frey, Dale Griffin (from Mott The Hoople), Victoria Wood, Alan Rickman, Dan Haggerty, Pierre Boulez, Robert Stigwood, Paul Bley, and Vilos Zsigmond are the big ones.
Enough already! This has been a bad four months so far. I thought I'd dedicate this week's SWO to five + one of those who have joined all of those listed and Polly, the famously stunned Norwegian Blue.
Prince was only 57. I'm also a baby boomer, a year older than Prince.
2 Kantner and Anderson
Freakishly, Paul Kantner and Signe Anderson left the Planet Earth Rock 'N' Roll Band together on the same day in January and are now among the stars.
Signe was the vocalist before Grace took over.
3 Emerson
Keith Emerson. Sadly, prog titan Keith Emerson has made sure ELP never play again.
4 George
Dear old George Martin. Bless his cottons.
5 Black
Tragically, Colin Vearncombe (a.k.a. Black) died from a car crash in Ireland in January. He was only 53!
No need to laugh or cry/ It's a wonderful, wonderful life
Overtime: Bowie
This continues to resonate and appall really. How is all this possible?
My choice - how to pick one Bowie song? Changes? Ashes To Ashes? Heroes? Sorrow? Lazarus? All are appropriate, but I'm going for a slightly more obscure one from Hunky Dory: the prophetic Quicksand.

Senses working overtime #35
1 Scott Weiland
This is a sobering piece, written by Mary Forsberg, his second wife and the mother of Scott's two teenage children. He died on his tour bus but in reality he'd been busy dying for years. Sad.
2 Star Wars NFL mash up
Check out these great helmets in Star Wars themes.
3 Speaking of space
Loved this article in The Guardian about life on the ISS (that's International Space Station).
4 The Force Awakens
The Guardian review says it all and it's spoiler free!
5 Bowie
Like a lot of people, I enjoy watching how Bowie morphs his image.
6 London
My senses have been overwhelmed by being back in London this week. So many sights, sounds, body spam, and mmm - smells to delight in. As for taste - who knew that you could get gluten free bread that tasted sensational?
The Artisan Gluten Free Bakery in Upper St (Highbury Islington where I'm staying) makes the most unbelievably awesome gluten free breads.
