Senses working overtime #40

My last weekend round up from London town before heading back down under. Jacky and I have had an amazing holiday in England and Wales. But all good things...end in a senses working overtime list.

So - 'ere me go 'ere we go 'ere we go...

1 Comics

While here I bought some comics. Yes I did. Fantastic Four, Star Wars and Thor. I bookmarked this article a while ago - helps me justifying my ongoing love affair with comic books.

2 De-vices
Everywhere I go I walk into people who are busy on their devices. What the hell are they always looking at??? Don't they know what all these devices are doing to them?

3 REALLY Old stuff
I have probably posted on this before but what the hell. I love this story of the Mexican church that emerged after being buried by water, or something. Read it again!

4 Roger Dean

I love prog rock and I love Roger Dean's amazing covers. Most of my purchases while here have been prog orientated - Riverside, Lunatic Soul, Steven Wilson and so on. Love prog!

5 James Bond

We saw Spectre while we 'ere innit. I really liked it! Good Bondage fun. This interactive map is also fun and I also may have posted on it before but who cares. It's great fun!

Overtime: some photos for y'all to enjoy! Love Bill Murray!!

Senses working overtime #34

1 J.J. Abrams
The depth of my respect is well known. The man is amazingly awesome in his wonderfulness. He even managed to add some class to Jimmy Fallon's show!

2 Spectre
This is a cool article on British spelling vs Americanisation of film titles.

3 Macbeth
Looking forward to this one! Visceral is a great word!

4 Christmas
Those are real people!
We're heading to London for Christmas this year and I'm REALLY looking forward to a winter Christmas. Here's a cool place to begin stoking up the Christmas cheer.

5 LA smog
We've arrived for three days to visit Samantha and Jesse before heading to England. The smog haze over LA is NOT a good look - is this just a permanent thing now? Pity.

Loverley clear day yesterday at Venice Beach - more like it!

Overtime

I love overseas airports. The sounds and sights at the arrivals' gate at LAX were wonderful!!

Senses working overtime #30

1 Spectre
Oh oh - doesn't look good for the latest James Bondathon - Spectre. This is a pretty cool review though - written by someone who knows their Bondage.

2 Noel Gallagher

I love Noel's music and he's always a great interviewee (if you can get past the obscenity laced braggadocio). This Esquire article is hilarious!!! It is a huge mega interview but well worth your diligence!

At one stage I wondered if Noel has any hobbies.
“This is my hobby!”
“You mean, music?”
“No! This: doing interviews. I fucking love it. I could do this all day long. It’s sick.”
“Why do you love it so much?”
“Because I get to be a gobshite, and I get to do that thing: to be the last of a dying breed.”

Much, much more in the interview - go read it!
3 GOAL!!!!!!
Adam sent me this link to a goals compilation. Check out Denis Bergkamp's audacious turn!

4 Burnt
This is a great article about film titles that either shouldn't or weren't used. Hilarious!

5 Peanuts
Great read on the Peanuts cartoon franchise. Who doesn't love the Charlie Brown gang?

Overtime: Battlefront!
I tried not to include some Star Wars material in this edition, but genius cannot be avoided for long: Keegan sent me this link to a promo for Battlefront. As I've said before - if anything is to tempt me to the dark side of gaming it would be this...

Senses working overtime #15

1 Chuck Jones
I defy anyone to actually stop watching this after you've started: a great run down on Chuck Jones' genius while directing Looney Tune cartoons.

2 e e cummings
James Whatley featured this article on e e cummings and modernism recently which I figured was worth re recommending via this blog. It's more the comments on modernism per se that really struck a chord with me.

3 New James Bond
The new trailer for the new James Bond movie is a master class in using music and editing to convey excitement in a trailer.

4 Zen and the art of drawing maps
This cool site was provided by a colleague (cheers Greg). It traces road journeys on a geographical map of north America. I love stories involving road journeys (I know - you do too) and this site is pretty cool, although I have done my own mapping the story version in my latest (up to number 3) copy of Zen and The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, this site has not only given me something to check but other road trip stories to check out as well. Nice!

5 Vandelay Industries
My eldest son sent me this awesome T shirt. Awesome! Awe. Some!! If you don't know about Vandelay Industries you need to read my next Wozza's Place post. Until then - feast yer eyes on this...

Overtime - The Rabbit of Seville
My favourite Bugs Bunny cartoon of all time
